Our Story

W4E was born in April 14th 2010 grounding on wave energy research of a group from the Polytechnic School of Turin. Sustainable energy supply is at the centre of the world strategy agenda for the next decades and our ability to answer this challenge will be crucial for the future generations, and W4E is contributing with "the blue way".

People

The team of W4E has multidisciplinary expertise in several fields, ranging from energy, mechanics, business and information technology. People within W4E have high international exposure, both in the marine energy field and in other sectors.

Strategy

W4E is a dynamic company fighting to create new opportunities for clean and sustainable energy supply from the most powerful and difficult to capture resource on the planet. Even if W4E has developed a proprietary innovative technology, there are no pauses in the research of new opportunities or in the incremental optimization of the current ISWEC device. In parallel to the technological improvements, W4E is developing a technology fully compliant with marine environmental requirements. And W4E believes in building strong partners within the whole value chain of the marine energy market.

Milestones

Starting from 2005 when the first embryo of W4E started from an idea of Giuliana and Ermanno, the initial research group developed several prototypes, tested them in wave tanksin Naples and Edinburgh and identified powerful design techniques. In 2010 the company was started up to bring to market the system and deploy the first systems in order to create the first wave farm in the Mediterranean Sea.
